Project
Replacement of Zelienople Bridge Over
Connoquenessing Creek

Location:
Butler County, PA
Client:
A.W.K. Consulting Engineers, Inc.

L.G.   Hetager Drilling, Inc. performed exploratory drilling which consisted of split-spoon sampling in soil and NX-split-inner barrel coring in bedrock at 10 boring locations. Boring depths averaged 36 LF. Work was performed to investigate subsurface conditions in support of goetechnical and structural engineering design for a new bridge across the Connoquenessing Creek in Butler County, north of Pittsburgh, PA. Floating plant was required for four boring locations. Due to the shallow depth of the creek (five feet), a small 8x20 barge was used with the firm's HH 50-1 drilling. The drill rig weighs only 500 pounds and is ideal for shallow draft situations.
Project
Construction of 8.37 Kilometers
of New Highway
U.S. 52 Project U350-52-39.80

Location:
Drag Creek, Crum Road Wayne Country, WV
Client:

L. G.  Hetager Drilling, Inc. performed exploratory roadway and structure borings including 4.5-inch I.D. hollow stem augers with continuous split spoon sampling and shelby tubes. Total borings 13,300 LF at 148 locations averaging 90 LF each. Due to the nature of the terrain involved on some of the boring locations, accessibility was almost impossible had it not been for the versatility of drilling equipment. Six rigs were used to complete the project, from a tandem axle HH 1000-1 truck mount to a small skid rig HH 50-1. HH 100-1, HH 100-2, and HH 250-1 are compact, self-contained crawlers, while HH 250-2 is a powerfull multi-angle crawler machine capable of little-to-no set-up on most holes. This job was completed weeks ahead of schedule.
Project
Installation of Nine Double
Piezometers at Sugar Run Dam

Location:
Three miles east of New Florance, PA
Client:
Highridge Water Authority, GTECH, Inc.

L. G.  Hetager Drilling, Inc.'s installation included nine piezometers, 350 feet of 4.5-inch hollow stem augers with continuous split spoon sampling in soil, 470 feet of NX coring in bedrock at 14 different locations. Boring depths averaged 60 LF. Work was performed to locate and monitor a leak in the dam. Two drill rigs were used to accomplish this task. HH 250-2 crawler was used on the 2:1 riprap stone slope. Set-up was minimal due to the leveling features incorporated into this multi-purpose drill rig, making it ideally suited for almost any slope or angle work. HH 500-1 was used for borings across the breast.
